To overbridge a bridge in Rotterdam

On May 26, 2025, we installed a temporary bridge in Zuiderpark in Rotterdam, near Ahoy, for our valued client Dura Vermeer.

The Carnissepad connects the Carnisse neighborhood with Zuidplein and is a popular cycling and walking route.
Along this route are several beautiful pedestrian bridges that must be preserved — both in appearance and structure.
For the planned construction work, heavy construction traffic needed to use this route without putting stress on the existing bridges or disturbing the bat routes in the area.

Our solution? A temporary bridge-over-bridge construction, literally built over the existing bicycle bridge.
This way, the original bridge remains protected, and construction traffic can carry out its work without obstruction.

A fine example of how temporary infrastructure can also be sustainable and thoughtfully designed.
